The Appeals and Fair Hearings Unit ensures that individuals who believe that the local agency has taken inappropriate action in the application of a law, regulation or policy have an impartial fact-finder who will review the case, hear their concerns, and make a timely decision in the matter. When a policy or law has not been correctly applied, it is the Appeal Unit’s responsibility to make sure that the agency is aware of its improper action and corrects the error.
Benefit program appeals include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Administrative Disqualification Hearings and other programs.
